Barchesse del Monastero dei Santi Gervasio e Protasio

The Monastery of Saints Gervasius and Protasius is a female Cistercian monastic community located in San Giacomo di Veglia, a fraction of Vittorio Veneto. Founded initially in Belluno in 1212, the last nuns were forced in 1909 to move to two barns in San Giacomo di Veglia, which belonged to the Calbo Crotta counts and were purchased thanks to a testamentary bequest. The buildings are arranged opposite each other, with semicircular arches along the inner fronts, and have been attributed to the architect Giorgio Massari. The monastery experienced moments of great difficulty after the Battle of Caporetto and during World War II. Currently, the monastery is inhabited by the nuns.
