Chiesa Arcipretale di San Nicolò Vescovo

The church erected as we see it today in 1945, stands on the remains of the previous and ancient church built probably in the seventh century A.D. suffered over the centuries numerous renovations, extensions and restorations. However, the first mention of its presence dates back to 1234. Already in the sixteenth century the inhabitants of Villa di Villa asked that their church be erected as a parish church; this happened in 1633. Between 1765 and 1766 the church was enlarged and the bell tower was rebuilt. The current parish church was built in two phases: between 1942 and 1943 the transept and the choir were built to a design by Pietro Vendrami, while, in 1945, the naves were rebuilt. In 1950 the new high altar was installed. In the same period the floor was redone and, finally, between 2014 and 2015 the church underwent a restoration.

Inside we can find two paintings by Frigimelica, a work by Besarel painted by Luigi Cima and always by the master of Villa di Villa we find the 14 stations of the Via Crucis, the Last Supper and many other works.

The imposing and precious Callido organ (Callidian catalogue N, 403) commissioned on 16 August 1802 and inaugurated on the day of Pentecost 1803. Still fully functional is used for concerts of sacred and baroque music on special occasions.

Saint Nicholas the Bishop is the patron saint of the parish, but more than the Patron Saint’s Day on December 6, Villa is solemnly celebrated and celebrated the Madonna of Providence. Every year, on the first Sunday of August, after the solemn Mass, the conscripts carry in procession the Madonna through the streets of the village to the sound of the "Campanò" and from the tolls from the Band .
