Itinerary:
This long route’s geology and landscapes are extremely interesting as it passes through a wild environment at the eastern edge of the Dolomites. It is for expert hikers only.
From Val Visdende park your car at Pra Marino in La Fitta. Continue on foot along an accessible gravel road along the banks of the Lòndo stream to the Casera of the same name. From here climb up on straightforward footpath 167 to Passo Palombino (2035 m.) before continuing uphill along the Cresta del Palombino ridge, waymarked 142, with its wonderful panoramas.
Leave the footpath climbing up to the peak of Mt Palombino, taking path 142a downhill to your right along Valle del Palombino, before joining the straightforward gravel road known as Strada delle Malghe. Take care on this section of descent because the footpath tends to peter out and its waymarking is approximate at times. A couple of bends takes you to Casera Dignas (1686 m.) and on to your starting point again (waymarking 170).
