How many Italians emigrated in the last century? Why did they emigrate? What are the characteristics of Belluno’s emigration? What are the aspirations of the thousands of young people who still today continue to seek opportunities abroad? How do immigrants who are currently arriving in our country live and find themselves?
All these questions are answered by the MiM Belluno, the interactive museum of migration, a museum that in an unconventional way opens a window on the world of migration. The historical ones, and those of today. To understand in an objective way the many "why" of a universal and perpetual phenomenon, which has always been part of the history of humanity and which is deeply marking the present. The museum is organized in multimedia form, with explanatory panels, photographs, films and numerous video-interviews with the protagonists of the events of emigration and immigration.
In addition to the "classic" visits, the museum also offers two routes (30 and 60 minutes) with virtual guides, thanks to which you can live the experience of MiM in total autonomy, but without giving up the information and advice that could provide the accompaniment of a physically present guide.
The MiM is also a link with schools throughout Italy, where students, through targeted educational courses and the possibility to choose from a series of monographic workshops, can learn more about the subject of migration.
The courses are offered in Italian, English, Portuguese and LIS.
