Museo degli Alpini

The Museo degli Alpini is located near a building which, at the time of the Serenissima Republic of Venice, was a Dominican convent, later confiscated with many other ecclesiastical assets during the conquests of Napoleon and finally transformed, under the Austrian Empire, in the barracks. After the Second World War, the barracks, called "Marras", were abandoned and used for other purposes. The museum, on the other hand, once the stable of horses, was renovated and in 2006 used as a venue for exhibitions that can still be visited, adding to the numerous works with which the Alpini have contributed to embellishing the city, such as the walkway adjacent to the Monticano river. In the three rooms you can see various relics, uniforms and weapons dating back to the two world wars that marked the contemporary era and consult texts enriched by images that tell the story of the Alpine Troops from their birth (1872) to the present day. One room is dedicated to the history of the Conegliano Alpine Corps and in particular to their deeds in both world wars.
