Museo del Piave "Vincenzo Colognese"

During the first years of his pastoral mission in Caorera, Father Antonio Pavan, curate in the small village of Vas from 1957 to 1974, started collecting and arranging, as much as possible in the presbytery of the village, the numerous war objects that people from the village and the surrounding area still found, several decades after the end of the First World War, to keep alive the memory and respect for the dead of the War in the heart of people.

So, after Father Antonio died in 1974, the presbytery of Caorera was full of remains of any kind, set aside helter - skelter, waiting for a better location. In 1996, the Association “Associazione Museo del Piave” was also established to accomplish Father Antonio’s dream, with the commitment of recovering all the objects he had patiently collected in his presbytery and properly arrange them in the building of the former Elementary School of the village, together with the precious objects of the Colognese collection and other objects that have been added from time to time and will be added in the future. This is how the Museum “Museo del Piave” of Caorera di Vas was established.

The Museum already has a very high quality exhibition, but it continuously looks for any kind of paper, photograph and document materials to improve its significant collection. The Museum will play a crucial historical and cultural role with other important museums, and will be a reference point at the national level. There are also several international connections being patiently established by our Association, which is now completing the museum and will ensure its management.
