Paragliding is considered the purest of air sports. No engines, no noise other than the wind as we move through it. It all starts here, thanks to the Feltre Monte Avena Paragliding School.
Located in the municipality of Pedavena, in the southwest part of the province of Belluno in Veneto, bordering Trentino Alto Adige, the School leads us to take flight from 1400 meters up Monte Avena. Behind us is the panorama of the Belluno Dolomites, in front the low Prealps, and then the Venetian plain stretches out to the Lagoon.
On the clearest days, we can admire in the distance the sea of Venice or let ourselves be enchanted by the splendid colors of meadows, woods, and Dolomite rocks.
Thanks to our instructors, we have learned to scan the sky in search of the updraft that will take us high. We take off and glide in the warm air that rises to the clouds. We almost touch them, and then off we go, with our wing moving in the wind towards the next current, towards the next thrill.
