Along the nature trail, the outcrops of the Dolomia Principale dominate, and the actions of water courses, Quaternary glaciers, and karst phenomena are evident.
Numerous side valleys, in continuous evolution, have formed along various faults. The vegetation landscape is very varied: submontane woods with black hornbeam and beech, drier slopes with Scots pines, grassy areas, rocky outcrops, and landslide torrents colonized by pioneer plants.
There are numerous opportunities to admire rare or particularly significant plants such as Veselskyi's Silene, the Dolomite Asplenium, Lunaria, Golden Lily, Fragrant Bellflower, and Black Hellebore. The broadleaf forests provide habitat for many species of passerine birds, while the meadows, especially in spring, are frequented by roe deer and mouflons. Typical inhabitants of the Caorame stream and Lake Stua are the yellow wagtail, the water thrush, and toads that, by the hundreds, reach the lake from the surrounding wooded slopes.
